Thank you letter from Bishop C. Joseph Sprague to Marion Correctional Warden Jason Bunting:

Dear Warden Bunting:

It is with gladness in my heart that, on behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, program participants, graduates and countless volunteers, I thank you for making it possible for inmates Todd and Michael to be taken to Lakeside last Monday to address some 3,000 United Methodists regarding Horizon, “A Pathway fro Darkness to Light.”

We realize that once again you colored outside the lines, creatively and courageously, in order to allow an informative, vulnerable and persuasive witness to be heard by a cast of thousands. It was a transformational half-hour. The presenters, your courteous officers, our volunteers, staff members and several ex-inmate graduates of Horizon touched the hearts, souls and minds of most of the United Methodists present. This bodes well for the future of Horizon, given our tragic need for increased funding, and the reputation of MCI.

Thank you for your gutsy effective leadership. It is a precious gift that the entire Horizon family savors with abiding gratitude.

C. Joseph Sprague
