Carrie Given,
Program Director of Horizon Prison Initiative at Ohio Reformatory for Women

I am honored and humbled to introduce myself as the Program Director of Horizon Prison Initiative at Ohio Reformatory for Women.

I have been in full-time ministry for over twenty-five years, serving in a variety of roles, including: youth pastor, missions pastor, missionary, formational prayer leader, and chaplain.

The Lord opened the prison doors and let me in 2022 to begin leading groups of women on a transformational healing journey to experience the Presence of Jesus in their pain, brokenness and wounds. As a volunteer at ORW for 2 years, I helped facilitate Healing Care groups, Celebrate Recovery groups, From Broken to Beloved groups and preached at Chapel services. Throughout this time, the Lord placed an ever-deepening love in my heart for the incarcerated individuals at ORW.

It was through this work that I felt called to work full-time at ORW. Then, the Lord led me to Horizon Prison Initiative. I have been serving as the Program Director at ORW since the end of 2024. I absolutely love the women! I am grateful for this opportunity to help them grow in their faith, to discover their value, worth, and dignity both as human beings and as children of God, and to convince them that they are worth fighting for.

It is my heart’s desire to see Horizon at ORW become a transformational community where the power of God and the power of true community transform not only each individual life, but also the population of ORW and beyond.
